The Esquire Ball: Lady in Red

A couple of days back, Esquire Philippines celebrated its second anniversary.. With a huge party no doubt! Knowing how these balls are such huge things I wanted to make sure I wore the right gown to the said event. Luckily my good friend and amazing designer, Eric delos Santos was there to save the day!

If you follow my blog religiously then you’ll know that I don’t usually wear super bright dresses, let alone, gowns. So, when I visited Erics shop and was shown this gown I knew it was what I had to wear. I swear, only Eric can get me to wear gowns in such bright hues — And I ain’t complaining!!

I decided to mix up red and gold cause I felt the two colours were most fitting. I know the Esquire ball is known as the night filled with cut-outs, tight gowns, low necklines and backs but with this being my first time to attend the ball, I wanted to go for something sexy yet subtle. As Emma Watson once said during an interview, My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder.”

I know it isn’t that obvious but this gown had a slit as well! Gosh, I wish there were more balls like such in Manila. I love wearing gowns, getting all dolled up and just enjoying the company of great friends!

Let’s all take a moment to check out the gorgeous details of my gown. They cut some of the lace out to create texture giving the usual lace even more character than it already has.

For my make up I went for the basic cat eye with bright red lips look. My red lipstick shade for this event was Guerlain’s Garçonne, one of my favorites! My hair and makeup peg for that night was inspired by Miley Cyrus’ 2012 Vanity Fair Oscars After Party look. A look I might be using over and over again!

Here are some event photos. I had a great and super fun night that night. Sadly I didn’t bring my camera to the event as well as the after party, something I need to do more often actually. I PROMISE, I’ll bring a camera out to events more often. I got them all from Cams except for one photo which I got from Rob, thanks for the photos you two!

Here are three out of the four Kendeng Queens, haha! Yes, that’s what us girls call each other, it’s a good laugh really but it’s all fun and laughs when I’m with these girls! Just so you all know, the Kendeng Queens consist of Laureen, Camille, Nicole and myself, haha!!

A shot of the ever so dapper, Mond Gutierrez. Looking good in his Boom Sason suit and Lanvin bow tie!

One of the hottest designers out there, Charina Sarte showing everyone how to pose in front of the camera! Don’t you just adore her gown? I wish I could rock something like that!

A shot of Charina and myself by Robbie, click THIS to visit his blog and see more shots. Thanks for the shot, Rob! I super love it! Believe me when I say this, it’s never a dull moment with this girl, swear!

As I am about to end this post, here’s a photo of myself with two of my closest friends, Laureen and Camille. Gosh, I can hang out with these two all day, everyday and we all won’t run out of things to say and do. Don’t you just love their gowns?

Till the next Esquire Ball, cheers! xx

Bright Colours

The theme for this years Preview Ball was athletic wear. Upon hearing that I was honestly worried, cause I didn’t know how I could make an athletic wear look chic enough for a ball! Yes. I instantly panicked without thinking. Just so you know — me and sports do sit well together. I was once a cheerleader, played soccer, know how to shoot a basket or two, played badminton, I like going to the gym and I think swimming is fun, BUT! Like what I said, I didn’t know how to dress in something athletic chic. This was sorta taboo to me but, THANK GODfor the creative mind of Eric Delos Santos. May I say, I adore his creations and he is truly one of the nicest designers I have met.

I didn’t get to fit this dress beforehand so I was so happy when I put it on and it fit like a glove! For those sceptics wondering what made it go with the theme of the ball, well for one, the style for I’d like to think that it looked like a swimsuit. Lastly, the beautiful colours which remind me so much of the colours of the Olympic rings. Now, wasn’t that a perfect piece for the ball?

I wanna say thank you to Clair Go of MAC for my make up that night! I know it was on such short notice and I’m so happy I was able to squeeze in an appointment. My peg? If you remember my shoot with Tricia (Bad Girl Good Girl), well, I fell in love with the make up so I decided to copy it for the event and it was done spot on! I wanted some dramatic eyes since my hair was now short (this was my new do’s debut) and I wanted to keep it sleek and straight that night.

And It Was All Yellow

If you follow me on Twitter then you would’ve probably seen me go on and on about the dress, Eric Delos Santos designed for me for the Mega Pinoy Pride Ball. It was a dream come true to attend an event in a gown, and even getting all dolled up and such! I’ll never ever forget that night, definitely one for the books!

With my dates that night, Cams and Lissa!! I had an awesome time with you girls, never a dull moment as usual and I’m sure as hell you girls remember why. ALSO!! The quickie look shots we took after, HAHA

Now on to my look photos. I was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to wear a gown by a designer I am such a fan of. The moment I met Eric in his studio I already felt that he was THE designer who was going to dress me for the ball. What I love is even if we only met due to this collaboration, I can say that he is not only a great designer but a good friend! Eric, if you see this — THANK YOU! MWAH! Love youuu! xx

ALSO! I’d loooooove to thank THE Lourd Ramos for my amazing hair and makeup. I was fortunate enough to have met him during the SM GTW show for PFW. He did my hair and of course he was someone who I’ve always dreamt of doing my hair and make up so I went for it! My peg was Miley Cyrus for the 2011 Oscars and wow, he super got my peg SPOT ON! I was soooo happy — But sad when I had to take it off.

I didn’t take my SLR in with me to the event (due to the fact that it was a FORMAL ball) so forgive me if I have no photos. Although, you can visit MegaStyle.PH for photos of the event and more! Also, here’s the video of Coldplay’s Yellow since it was the first song that came to mind when thinking of a blog title. CHEERS!!
